Installing Above Ground Pool

What To Look For When Installing Above Ground Pools
If you live in the south, then you know it can get very hot. There is nothing better than having your own pool outside your back door. Most of these above ground pools can be found very cheap. I recently bought a Intex 18' pool. I started out with the instructions that came with the pool. If your like me and think you can figure out how to install a pool without instructions, then your mistaken. It is very important to figure out where your going to place your new pool. Always look for a place that isn't close to the house. If you have limited space, make sure that the pool drain is faceing way from the house. This will ensure water doesnt go where it's not suppose to go. Next, try to find the most level part of your yard for pool placement. If you get this part wrong your in for a huge water bill. When I placed my pool I did'nt look for the most level part of my yard. This hurt me bad because I had the pool filled up half way and I could tell that more water was going to one side. After try to compensate the unlevel ground I had to let all the water out and start over ( Almost 2,500 gallons of water was wasted ). Once I picked out the new location that was on more level ground, I decided to do it the right way. Once you have the best spot for your pool, you need to level all the low spots. The easiest way to find low spots is to use a long level. If you dont have a long level then use a long board and place a small level on top of the board. Go over the entire area and fill in spots that need more dirt. When putting dirt down make sure it is free of rocks, stones, twigs, and branches. This will ensure no holes will occur during use. If you can find a tarp to place underneith that will help. Also, some grasses and weeds can damage your pool. To make the most of your pool spray the area with weed and grass killer. Your grass is going to die anyways, so dont get to upset with doing this. After, everything is level and you have layed out your pool start filling it up. This part is going to take a long time, up to 12 hours or so depending on the required gallons needed. After it is all said and done you can enjoy your new "done right" pool for many summers to come. Just remember these above steps.

This is an excellent video. It really breaks pool installation, which can be extremely difficult and time consuming, down into manageable steps.
